Macometr is a menu bar system monitor for Mac by Mercury Project. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We do not collect any of your data: Macometr doesn't send anything to us or anyone else. It has no network access and doesn't upload or sync anything. What it keeps is stored on your own Mac, as described below. You decide what happens to a report you copy.
To show its numbers, Macometr reads system statistics that macOS provides: processor load (overall and per core), GPU utilization, memory use and pressure, compression and swap, thermal state, battery or power-adapter state, and basic hardware details such as the chip name and number of cores. These readings draw the menu bar and the panel. The panel's short graphs (about the last five minutes) are kept in memory only.
To build its Usage History report, Macometr keeps a local history while it runs: one summary per minute of memory pressure, swap activity and swap space in use, CPU and GPU load, memory use and thermal state. Recording is on by default. You can pause it at any time with "Record Usage History" in the gear menu or the Usage History window; pausing keeps what's already recorded.
"Include app usage" is off by default. If you turn it on, Macometr also records, for the apps you use, each app's identifier (its bundle identifier, such as com.apple.Safari) and name, with per-minute CPU-time and memory-footprint totals. It does this only while Record Usage History is on. Macometr doesn't record document names, window titles, browsing history, screen contents or anything you type. App icons in the report are looked up from the apps installed on your Mac when the report is shown; they aren't stored in the history.
The history is stored on your Mac, inside Macometr's private sandbox container (~/Library/Containers/cz.mercuryproject.Macometr/Data/Library/Application Support/History). Macometr doesn't upload, sync or send it anywhere. Readings older than 30 local calendar days are removed when Macometr next processes its history while it runs; nothing is changed while Macometr is closed.
"Delete History…" at the bottom of the Usage History window removes the whole history, including any app names and totals, from your Mac. Turning off "Include app usage" stops new app observations but keeps those already recorded until you delete them or they age out after 30 days. Moving Macometr to the Trash doesn't necessarily remove its private container, so use Delete History… first if you want the history gone.
"Copy Report" in the Usage History window puts a text summary on your clipboard, only when you click it. Where you paste or share it is up to you. It contains the chip and memory size but no machine name, serial number, file paths or documents. App names are left out by default and included only if you check "Include app names in copied report". Macometr doesn't send the report anywhere itself.
While the panel is open, Macometr reads activity counters that the graphics driver reports, to list a few apps under "Reported app activity". These counters identify some active apps, not an exact or complete share of GPU use. Macometr reads app names and icons only to display them. This live list isn't stored, and there is no app GPU history.
Your preferences (which values appear in the menu bar, the update interval, gauges, notifications and the recording switches) are stored on your Mac in Macometr's own private storage.
If you turn on "Notify If Draining Battery", Macometr asks macOS for permission to show notifications. The notifications are created on your Mac and never involve any server. You can turn them off in Macometr's settings or in System Settings → Notifications.
If you turn on "Launch at Login", Macometr asks macOS to open it when you log in. You can turn this off at any time in Macometr's settings or in System Settings → General → Login Items.
Macometr contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and uses no third-party services. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store; we never see your name, payment details or Apple Account.
Macometr is suitable for everyone and collects no information from anyone, including children. It doesn't send its history anywhere.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
